When we experience loss, the world can feel like a different, confusing, and heavy place. Grief doesn't follow a neat timeline, and it doesn't come with a manual. It is a personal experience, and navigating it can feel isolating.
In our work together, I don’t meet a problem or a diagnosis; I meet you as a human being. Whether online or in person, my aim is to listen calmly and deeply to what is said and what is unsaid, being with you as we navigate your experience of grief together.
Because bereavement affects each of us uniquely, I believe that the support you receive should fit comfortably into your life, wherever you are at. I offer bereavement counselling both online and in person in Bridport. We can even do a mix of online and face-to-face, which can be useful if your schedule changes or if you are away.
Online counselling allows us to meet anywhere, provided you have a private space where you can't be overheard. Some people feel more comfortable in their own surroundings. I have worked with many people exclusively online and believe that working online can facilitate an effective depth of our connection.
Face-to-face sessions are held in a quiet, secluded and private location in the heart of Bridport town centre, just off East Street. I work to offer a calm, kind environment where you can feel safe to express your internal experience without judgment.
If you are experiencing loss and are curious about exploring what you are going through with a kind and supportive counsellor, you are welcome to get in touch. We can start with a free, no-pressure 20-minute online chat to see if we feel like a good fit for working together.
In a previous career in the funeral profession, I worked with thousands of families immediately after a loss. I also supported people in exploring and recording their funeral wishes. I have an interest in ceremony and hold a diploma in Funeral Celebrancy.
I have professional experience of supporting families who have experienced pregnancy loss, including termination, miscarriage, and stillbirth. I collaborated with an NHS Trust and local crematorium to facilitate funerals for families wishing to be part of services for babies pre- and post-twelve weeks' gestation. I have experience of working with NHS multi-faith chaplaincy teams, bereavement specialist midwives, and bereavement teams.
I have an interest in queer experiences of loss and grief; I acknowledge the unique anxieties and fear of funeral wishes not being carried out - I value the work of my former colleague, Ash Hayhurst.
I spent some time working with MuchLoved, a social enterprise which provides a digital in-memory platform. I am an advocate of maintaining an enduring connection / continuing bond with the person / pet who has died.
