Hello, I'm Jason. People say they experience me as approachable, friendly and easy to talk to. I'm a qualified integrative counsellor and a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP). I work with all individual adults (18 & over).
I offer you a supportive and kind space to experience healing, change, and to help you explore whatever it is you are experiencing. I aim to help you work towards whichever direction you want to go. You are the focus in our work together.
Much of my work often involves supporting people with depression, anxiety, stress, life changes, relationships, self-worth, self-exploration and identity. My special interests include, but are not limited to, working with loss and grief, and depression.
Ultimately, and, I think, most importantly, I am interested in the human experience and being with people.
Many people experience the following positive impacts from our work together:
gaining a new perspective on the self;
experiencing relief;
feeling heard, understood and accepted;
developing new skills/coping strategies;
becoming more in touch with emotions;
feeling empowered;
and having a sense of reassurance/feeling supported/having a sense of hope.
You deserve a non-judgmental and supportive space to help you explore whatever you are experiencing. Our work together will be confidential. We will listen with each other to each other.
I think my website risks being read as a bit ‘cold’ - I hope that when we have had a chance to talk, you might realise that my website doesn’t reflect the entirety of my personality. Please do ask any questions that you need to.
My integrative counselling approach is built on the view that counselling is a collaborative process; it is a conversation that makes a difference beyond the space in which it occurs.
When we meet, I do not meet an issue, a problem, or a diagnosis; I meet a human being. I work to create a feeling of safety so that you can feel and express your internal experience. I specialise in listening calmly and deeply to what is said and what is not said. Through discussion and exploration, I work with you to gain a deeper understanding of yourself.
Drawing from my training and personal interest in existential therapy and philosophy, sometimes our work could be to help explore the big questions of life - what is your purpose? What gives your life meaning? What makes it all worth it? The big and bold questions can be exciting to explore together.
In previous careers, I have worked with horses (as a professional groom/rider and coachman); as a student nurse at Charing Cross Hospital; and more recently in the funeral profession. My interests also include people who work in these fields.
I have experience of working with autistic people, adults with learning difficulties, and complex issues. My practice is explicitly LGBTQIA+ affirming and inclusive.
I work online and in person. I am based in the centre of Bridport, West Dorset. Sessions are held in a secluded, calm and private room situated off East Street, near East Street Car Park.
I offer a free 20-minute online chat for you to get a better idea of whether I would be a person you would benefit from talking with.

I have a small number of reduced-cost online (only) sessions on a first-come first-served basis for anyone experiencing financial difficulty. Reduced-cost online sessions are available between 9am and 5pm.
